The Interview: Three Questions To Hortense NNAME, President Of REDEAC

MTVM: Ms. Hortense NNAME, could you introduce us to REDEAC? Hortense NNAME: REDEAC is a network of national coalitions for the protection of children's rights in Central Africa. The member coalitions come from Gabon, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, DRC, Congo and Burundi. Currently missing are Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome & Principe. We support the member coalitions in their missions of promotion and protection of the child in the sub-region, in particular by strengthening their capacities.

A Word From The Associations

We are one of the pillars of democratic, social and cultural life. "The State cannot do everything". This is one of the arguments generally evoked to justify, if not claim the existence of the associative movement. It is true that, in many respects, associations, NGOs, cooperatives, foundations, to name but a few, are, among civil society organizations (CSOs), those whose vocation is not to replace the State but to accompany it in the implementation of development policies for the people, it being understood that if the problems of the people are not necessarily problems of development, the problems of development are always problems of people.

Christmas For All 4th Edition

To strengthen the popularization of the actions carried out by associating stakeholders, we have set up an associative village which aims to be the first platform for associative advocacy on the national level. Every December, the associative village is totally dedicated to children's rights and is usually followed by an edition of "Christmas for all" which is a recreational day during which several forgotten children celebrate the Christmas holiday like all the others.

Zoom on HERMANN'S HOUSE

Founded in 2020 by Carnancitha Moussavou Nguimbi, who is its president, La Maisond'Hermann is one of the member associations of the coordination of civil society organizations for the protection of children in Ogooué-Maritime. Its headquarters are in Port-Gentil.

SUCCESS: Give a Chance!

"It is when each of us waits for the other to begin that nothing happens" (Abbé Pierre). Fernand Nkéro played the national anthem of his country, Gabon, one night in July 2022, in Nairobi, Kenya. The warm joy that he brought to thousands of his compatriots was followed by the cold shower of the words of the young man who had just been crowned African Judo champion in his category (-66 kg): for lack of means, he will not go to the world championships scheduled to take place a few days later in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
