Opening of the african department of the imya library

The Imya free reading library, in the Grand-Village district of Port-Gentil, inaugurated an African section on Saturday 6 August. Sixty-five books by African authors, from Nelson Mandela to Maryse Condé, including Fatou Diome, Aimé Césaire, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alain Mabanckou, Camara Laye, and Amadou Hampaté Bâ, will delight the readers of this library, whose name means "knowledge" in the Omyènè language, one of the national languages of Gabon. This is the result of a partnership between the Imya library, on the one hand, and the NGO Cri de l'enfant, which campaigns for the well-being of children, and the Institut La Concorde, which brings together several Gabonese and friends of Gabon, on the other hand. Two organizations represented for the occasion by Danouchka Assoumou Augé.
