On August 17, 2024, on the occasion of the celebration of the 64th anniversary of Gabon’s independence, a mural was inaugurated in Port-Gentil, the work of a project called «POG, un musée à ciel ouvert».
Ariane Manga, provincial director of culture, youth, sport and arts, said that the main objective of this project is to “highlight the potential of Marigova in cultural, historical, social and institutional terms” and that it “Going beyond the cultural and tourism aspect to include education”. A mural that aims to educate youth and future generations about the symbols, rites and beliefs that underpin national cultural identity, a call for the reappropriation of cultural values that are on the way out.
